The Programming Language for You

With all of the impressive tech jobs and flexible work schedules out there, now is the perfect time for you to learn how to code.  As people get curious about the world of coding and all that goes on there, they’re left with the hurdle of which programming language they should choose.  To make things a little easier for you, here’s the breakdown of what’s what:

JavaScript

This is the first programming language which many people choose when starting off with coding.  The logical step of what to do next once you’ve gotten the hang of this is to learn HTML and CSS.  You know when a form turns red because you forgot to fill everything out properly?  That’s probably JavaScript doing its thing, providing the behaviour on a website.

HTML/CSS

When it comes to creating static web pages, these two languages are essential.  HTML, or Hypertext Markup Language, is the language that structures a web page and makes up all of the links, text, and other content which you see on a site.  On the other hand, CSS is what allows a web page to look the way it does – controlling the layout, colour, and visuals.

Java

Before you think it, the answer is no – Java doesn’t relate to JavaScript in any way.  This language can be used for anything from mobile and desktop applications to web applications.  Being the choice for developing Android applications, this will be the perfect choice for you if you’re planning to start making mobile apps.

PHP

One of the most popular languages when it comes to coding, this is used by the heavy hitters – like Facebook and Etsy.  Used to write WordPress and Drupal, learning PHP will be in your favour as it continues to get more and more popular.

Python

A general-purpose language, this is used for everything from data science through to server automation.  Great for beginners and being easy to both read and understand, so many things can be done using Python.  Used to create web apps such as Instagram, this language even assists researchers in making sense of their data.

At Symfony Digital Solutions, our group of ever-so-talented web developers know all about what’s good in the world of coding, so there’s no need for you to doubt whether they’ll get the job done perfectly.
